Hoodie Manufacturer for New Brands: Custom Fleece Hoodies from 100 Units

Texera is a hoodie manufacturer for new and growing clothing brands. We knit the fleece ourselves, cut and sew your hoodies in our own factory, and start orders from 100 units.
Most brands looking for a hoodie manufacturer hit the same problems: factories that want several hundred pieces per style, fabric that comes in lighter than the sample, and reorders that don't match the first batch. Because we make the fabric and the hoodie under one roof, the hoodie you approve is the hoodie you get, from the first run to every reorder.

Why work with a hoodie manufacturer that makes its own fabric
The weight you approve is the weight you get
Fabric weight is measured in GSM (grams per square meter): the higher the number, the thicker and heavier the hoodie feels. Many factories buy fabric from outside mills, so the weight can drift from one order to the next. We knit our own fleece and French terry, so we can hit the weight you choose and keep it there. What GSM means, with a chart by garment →
Start with 100 hoodies, not 1,000
The minimum order quantity (MOQ) is the smallest order a factory will accept. Ours starts at 100 units, so you can launch one style, see what sells and reorder, without tying up your budget in stock. What a 100-piece order actually costs →
Reorders that match your first batch
Every bulk order is checked against the sample you approved. Your patterns and specs stay on file, so a reorder is faster and comes out the same as the first run.
You see what you're paying for
Our cost calculator breaks a hoodie's price into fabric, labor, trims, decoration and packaging, so you can see where the money goes and what changes if you adjust the spec.
Choose your hoodie: the six details that matter
Two hoodies can both be called "heavyweight fleece" and still feel completely different. These six details decide how yours looks and feels. Put them in your tech pack (the spec sheet a factory builds your garment from) and we'll sample from it. No tech pack yet? Send us a reference hoodie or a description and we'll help you build one.
- Body fabric and weight. The biggest decision (see the comparison below).
- Hood. Single layer, or lined with a second layer so it holds its shape.
- Seams. Overlock stitching is standard. Flatlock or coverstitch seams lie flatter and look more premium.
- Drawcord and eyelets. Flat or round cord, metal or embroidered eyelets, or no drawcord for a cleaner look.
- Kangaroo pocket. Bar-tack stitching at the pocket openings stops them tearing.
- Cuffs and waistband. Stretchy ribbed fabric, with a little spandex so it keeps its shape after washing.
Fleece or French terry?
Both are soft knitted fabrics with a smooth outside. The difference is on the inside.
| Fleece | French terry | |
|---|---|---|
| Inside | Brushed, fluffy | Small unbrushed loops |
| Feel | Warmer, softer, cozier | Lighter, more breathable |
| Typical weight | 320–450 GSM | 280–360 GSM |
| Best for | Winter and premium heavyweight hoodies | Year-round wear and warmer climates |
For a premium heavyweight hoodie, most brands choose fleece at 380–450 GSM. For an everyday hoodie that sells all year, French terry or fleece at about 320–360 GSM is a safer choice. Not sure? We can sample both so you can compare them in your hands.

What a hoodie costs to make
Most hoodie manufacturers don't publish prices. Here's a real breakdown for 100 heavyweight fleece hoodies (320+ GSM) with a one-color screen print, from the same cost calculator we quote from:
What this means for your budget:
- Fabric is about half the cost. Fabric weight is the biggest lever on price.
- Labor gets cheaper per hoodie as you order more: about 7% less at 250 pieces, 12% less at 500 and 18% less at 1,000.
- Print setup is shared across the order. A $35 screen setup adds $0.35 per hoodie at 100 pieces, but only $0.07 at 500.
The estimate doesn't include samples, shipping or import duties, which depend on where you are. Try your own numbers in the calculator →

Comparing hoodie manufacturers? Ask these questions
Whoever you choose, these questions show quickly whether a factory can deliver what it promises:
- Do you knit the fabric yourself? Can you send a swatch at my target weight?
- Is the minimum order per style, per color, or for the fabric?
- What does a sample cost, how long does it take, and how many changes are included?
- Will my final sample be made from the actual bulk fabric?
- How do you check bulk production against my approved sample?
- How much will the hoodies shrink after washing, and do you test it?
- Can you break your quote down by fabric, labor, trims, decoration and packaging?
- What are your payment terms?
- Which certifications do you hold, and can I see the certificates?
Warning signs
- No sampling, or "the sample will be close enough." Without an approved sample, there's nothing to check your order against.
- A price far below everyone else's with no explanation. It usually means lighter fabric than quoted, or costs that appear later.
- No swatch, and no agreed tolerance on fabric weight.
- Vague answers about quality checks. "We check everything" isn't a process.
- Full payment upfront before you've approved a sample.
- Nothing in writing. Every agreed detail should be in your tech pack or order.

Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order for custom hoodies?
At Texera, orders start from 100 units. Other manufacturers range from a few dozen to several hundred pieces per style, so always check whether the minimum applies per style or per color.
How much does it cost to manufacture a hoodie?
Using our calculator, 100 heavyweight fleece hoodies with a one-color print come to an estimated $9.00–$11.49 per hoodie, before shipping and import duties. Lighter fabric, no print, or a larger order brings the price down.
What is a good GSM for a hoodie?
320–380 GSM is a comfortable everyday weight. 400–450 GSM makes a heavy, premium hoodie. Lighter French terry around 280–320 GSM suits warmer climates and layering.
Can I get a sample before ordering in bulk?
Yes. We make one to two rounds of samples, then a pre-production sample in your actual fabric. Bulk production only starts after you approve it in writing.
Do I need a tech pack to get started?
It helps, but you don't need one. Send a reference hoodie, photos or a description, and we'll help you turn it into a spec we can sample from.
